Yarns
Combed/Worsted yarn
Combed yarn is spun from fibers that have been combed before they are processed to yarn. The combing aligns the fibers, giving the fabric made of combed yarn a cleaner and smoother surface. Long fiber wools are more appropriate to card and that is why carded yarns have a tendency to be made of higher quality wool with longer fibers and low diameter.
Woolen yarn
Woolen yarn is made of fibers that haven't been combed before they are spun into yarn. Because the fibers are not aligned the yarn, and the fabric created of it, has a bigger proportion of air in them. This means they often become warmer.
