Care advice for storing and wearing wool

Cared for the right way, your woolen knits can look fantastic and almost new for many years.

Storing

  • Avoid storing wool or silk garments in built-in closets, especially if you live in an old house. You then have a good chance preventing wool eating bugs from accessing your clothes.
  • To really be on the safe side, it is good to store woolen clothes in closed plastic containers, especially over summer.
  • For long storage we recommend first washing the garments, as clean wool is less  attractive to bugs. Putting small bags of dried lavender among your knits can also have a good effect.

Wearing

  • Be careful with wearing metal bracelets or watches when you wear fine knitted wool garments. The rubbing of sharp metal against the surface of the fabric can cause pilling, or in the worst case holes.
  • Avoid canvas bags or other bags with "rough" surfaces. The heavy friction between the bag and the garment can cause pilling, even on a very high quality fabric.
