Buttons

Corozo

Corozo (or Ivory Nut) buttons resemble wood but are much harder and are made of the nut of the Corozo palm. The Corozo palm grows in South America.

Trocas

These buttons are made from the shell of the Trocas snail. Many people consider this type of mother-of-pearl button to be the most beautiful one. The Trocas snail likes warm waters and can be found around the Philippines, Indonesia, Papua New Guinea and New Caledonia.

Fresh water shell

The fresh water shells are used for this type of button that has a bit of a more "modern" look than the Trocas button. The fresh water shells are found in big rivers like the Missisippi, the Mekong river and the Yangtse river.
