About
Using precious, soft and lustrous materials, MASKA aims for perfect knitwear.
MASKA ("knitted stitch" in Swedish) creates the knitwear we always dreamed of wearing; durable in both material and design and with a passion for yarn and the craft of knitting.
At MASKA we want everyone to discover the beauty of exquisite yarns, knitted structures and refined detailing that we love so much ourselves.

We have embraced the spirit of slow fashion. Designing great knitwear takes time and cannot be rushed into traditional fashion seasons. Also we want to emphasize the timeless qualities of our clothes - our season is very long!
Materials
MASKA aims to create garments where yarn and design come together in a perfect harmony and yarns with lots or character is one of our main inspirations. We use only carefully selected materials like extra fine Merino wool, Mongolian cashmere, kid mohair, silk, alpaca and Peruvian Pima cotton.
And not all wool or cotton is alike. Just like fine wine or chocolate, each yarn has its own unique qualities like shine, drape and softness. Creating perfect knitwear is about deep knowledge of the materials and finding the right yarn for every design. We sometimes need to search the whole world to find just the right one.
Production
Our production is small-scale and mostly made by hand on hand-knitting machines. One garment can take up to three days to make. All materials are natural and very carefully selected for their beauty and lasting qualities.
We avoid all middle hands in production to spend all on the quality of our clothes.
History and People
Founders Maria Svensson and Lisa Leierth met in year 2000. Sharing a big interest in wool, materials and hand knitting they decided to create the kind of knitwear they both missed. MASKA was founded in 2009 and the web shop was launched in January 2010.
